Improving productivity, removing data duplication and providing real-time asset information
NEXUS Integrity Centre facilitates the building of integrity frameworks for all asset types, in any industry. The software can meet all-of-facility integrity needs across the life cycle and will integrate with your computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to help you reduce data duplication and improve productivity.
NEXUS IC manages information to enable:
NEXUS IC can interface, use and update information in a wide range of different systems such as SAP and other CMMS systems, GIS systems, and common historian systems.
Expert system configurations for NEXUS IC are managed by Vlog's subject matter experts and are maintained to the latest standards/codes and industry best practices.
Expert systems configurations are predefined database configurations, which any NEXUS IC client can subscribe to. When you subscribe to an expert system configuration, the asset types, asset information groups, risk models, event definitions and associated outputs of the expert system (reports, charts, traffic lights and dashboards) are added to your database.
You can add further expert system configurations to your portfolio at any time. There is no limit to the number of expert system configurations you can subscribe to. Subscribing to each expert system builds a seamless single database.

The Static Pressure Equipment (SPE) expert system contains all necessary functionality to manage pressure equipment risk assessment, inspection enactment and dashboarding. It is seamlessly integrated with NEXUS standard functionality, such as anomaly management and libraries.
The SPE expert system is tailored to piping, vessels, tanks and heat exchangers. It can be configured to suit any client risk matrix and can perform qualitative, semi-quantitative or fully quantitative risk-based inspection (RBI) (API 581) interchangeably.
The Static Pressure Equipment Plus (SPE+) expert system contains the SPE configuration and adds on a semi-quantitative risk-based inspection methodology that integrates with the SPE AIGs and enhances the assessment of equipment probability of failure.
This methodology enables a semi-quantitative assessment of all damage mechanisms identified within API 571. Where possible, elements of API 581 are used for the definition of probability of failure; when not assessed by API 581, alternative guidance is deployed based in line with API RP 571 guidance and Vlog’s engineering experience.
The API 581 expert system incorporates the SPE and SPE+ expert system and provides a fully compliant API 581 assessment tool for analysis of equipment risk and inspection planning. This methodology is integrated into the SPE API 580 RBI functionality such that qualitative override – or assessment of non-API581 damage mechanisms – is possible. In addition to this, an API581 / SPE+ hybrid functionality is used which deploys SPE+ PoF assessment and API581 CoF assessment in the event that damage mechanisms are present that are NOT covered by API 581.
API 581 provides additional fully quantitative RBI methodology on top of SPE Plus.
The EEHA (Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Area) expert system is configured to assist in the management of electrical equipment in hazardous areas. The large volume of Ex equipment that typically exists on many sites can often lead to difficulties in performing inspections and managing the data associated with them. The EEHA expert system can assist by providing a mobile electronic inspection solution that will instantly feed to the database. From here, the data may be used to demonstrate KPIs, perform RBI assessments and plan/create of work pack. Allowing the user to reduce the inspection load and manage the data effectively to meet the required regulations.
The Wells expert system is tailored to oil and gas, geothermal and UGS operations in both onshore and offshore locations. It is seamlessly integrated with NEXUS standard functionality such as anomaly management, workpacks and inspection data. It can be configured to suit any client risk matrix or severity grading profile and provides all necessary functionality to define and manage safe operating limits.
For more information and to request a demo, go to the NEXUS Wells page.
The PRD (Pressure Relief Device) expert system is configured to assist in the management of clients’ pressure relief devices. This expert system has been configured to allow storage of each PRDs general, design and process data, as well as display each PRD’s inspection history. A PRD inspection plan is automatically calculated following a PRD criticality assessment.
The Civils and Structures expert system is configured to assist in the management of clients’ onshore structural assets. This expert system has been configured to allow storage of each structural component's general information, location, design, baseline, inspection and risk data. A structural component's inspection plan is automatically calculated following a probability of failure and consequence of failure risk assessment.
NEXUS provides a platform for your company to build a fully tailored asset performance management system. Our existing templates use industry standards, however, these can be customised to align with your existing processes.
Assets are organised into a hierarchal structure, there can be one or more of these views. Each view can represent the same set of assets, for example by physical location, and by business unit.
Each asset has an Asset Type, and each Asset Type can contain 0 or more groups of information. Each information group is a configurable form of data that can be used to record static asset information, dynamic information, and calculations.
NEXUS is built upon a graphical function builder. The function builder allows configuration of complex mathematical, decisional and statistical functions.
There is a validation centre provided as well so that validation checks can be added to every function to ensure the function is performing calculations correctly and can be verified by external standards.
NEXUS provides a repository for storing detailed inspection data along with associated multimedia and related documents. Anomaly triggers can be configured to automatically flag and categorise anomalies and their severity. The system includes routines for facilitating anomaly assessment and action tracking.
Other applications in the NEXUS suite provide a means of field-based data entry and seamless transition to the database.
Charting and data analysis can be customised to define trends, track degradation of assets and compare different assets. Charts are built upon asset data or inspection data and utilise the functions to provide comprehensive, filterable datasets. Linear charting tools are also provided for visualisation and alignment of pipeline data.
Both 2D and 3D drawings can be linked to the asset hierarchy to provide image-based navigation, traffic lighting and data overlay.
Geospatial data can be viewed on maps provided by online sources or a corporate GIS.
Any data from within NEXUS can be overlaid onto the map, providing positional context.
Embedded multi-channel video playback provides quick and efficient viewing of video. NEXUS will seek directly to the time of the Task/Event/Anomaly, quickly allowing review of recorded data and view areas of interest.
New support for cloud-based video allows you to store all your video in the cloud, reducing on-premise costs and providing playback anywhere you have an internet connection.
Internal pipe defects are also supported along with assessments conforming to industry standards, such as B31G and DNV-RP-F101.
Defects can be viewed side-by-side with external issues highlighting where these occur together for smarter maintenance and rectification work to be planned and performed.
Live real-time risk assessments are performed on each and every asset. Pre-built risk models such as API 580 and API 581 are available. Alternatively, new models can be built to analyse any set of parameters, or the existing models can be modified as required.
Any number of models can be defined and assigned to each asset, providing the ability to compare different codes and optimise RBI as required.
NEXUS can dynamically generate inspection and intervention plans based on all relevant assessments. Risk-based inspection intervals can be compared against regulatory requirements, corporate requirements and real-time condition-based assessments to ensure an effective and optimised intervention schedule. Further efficiencies can be achieved with connections to a corporate CMMS.
Integrity and risk models rely on data from numerous sources. NEXUS can connect directly with your CMMS, Historian, GIS, document control and dashboarding systems to either retrieve data as required or to transmit key outputs such as risk, inspection frequency, cost and reports.
Similarly, IC-Inspection can be used to remote control digital video recorders during online inspection providing a permanent link between the inspection data and the video record. In addition to controlling its own IC-Recorder, the following DVRs have been provided with protocol information to enable remote control by IC-Inspection v6. Vlog recommends contacting the DVR provider to confirm compatibility prior to mobilisation.
You can interface other systems to NEXUS IC by means of a published REST service protocol that we maintain. In this way, you can connect any existing corporate system to NEXUS IC and request data from or pass data to the database.
